  • A Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences

    Jean Tirole, Professor of economics at the Toulouse School of Economics, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2014. Professor Tirole’s research covers industrial organization, regulation, the theory of organizations, the game theory, finance, macroeconomics and psychology-based economics. He is the laureate of many international distinctions, among which the CNRS Gold Medal in 2017.

  • A scientific centre of excellence of international repute.

    Toulouse Capitole University, with the Toulouse School of Economics, is the only French institution of higher education to be listed in the 2017 top 50 Shanghai ranking in Economics. It is also the only French institution to be awarded the "Centre d’excellence Jean-Monnet" label in 2017

  • Unique research chairs.

    The Fondation Jean-Jacques-Laffont is the leading French Foundation in terms of scientific cooperation in economic sciences. It created the Jean-Jacques Laffont Digital Chair in 2015 aimed at studying the societal impact of new technologies.
    The SIRIUS Chair set up in 2013 has been a pioneer in terms of research dedicated to law and management in the space sector.
