The project provides a detailed study of the political, sociological, doctrinal and jurisprudential features of the Court and of its players during the after-war reconstruction years. Its highly innovative nature is enhanced by a twofold comparative perspective which consists in reviewing the impact of the early understanding of the law on the current approaches of the German Federal Constitutional Court and in addressing the part played by Constitutional justice in the evolution of the rule of law and of democracy in France.
