DIKE – The research team and doctoral seminars on legal cultures in Europe – 2014-2017 Cycle: History of legal systems in Europe - 2014-2015: Values, representations, symbols - Workshop 2

What representations do legal systems in Europe project? Starting from the various media selected by the speakers (seals, portraits, architecture, statuary art, symbols, costumes, rituals, etc.), the workshop aims at identifying both the materials and contents making up the representations of legal systems in Europe from the Middle Ages up to now. It means to inform not only on the purposes they serve but also on the relations between these media and the representations they convey.
