Research federative structures

The university has also 3 federative structures, whose main mission is to foster scientific cooperation across different research teams.

  • L'Institut Fédératif de Recherche "Mutation des normes juridiques"- IFR (Federative Institute of Research: «Evolution of legal  norms»)
The main aim of the Institut Fédératif de Recherche is to bring closer all the Law research teams of the university, in order to promote joint approaches as well as high level research. The IFR is also organizing a joint scientific event every year at the University for all Law research teams.
  • Toulouse School of Economics - TSE -

TSE is a research group that gathers more than 160 international researchers belonging to three former research laboratories of University Toulouse Capitole (GREMAQ, LERNA and ARQADE),  which are specialised in Economics. TSE is among the top ranking international research institutes and has reached the 9th position in the  Repec 2019 ranking.

  • La Maison des Sciences de l'homme de Toulouse - MSHT (House of Human Sciences)
MSHT is a joint structure associating the three universities in Toulouse : Toulouse Capitole University , Toulouse le Mirail University (establishment whose research focuses on Human Sciences), and  Paul Sabatier University (establishment specialised in science and medicine).(UT Capitole/UTM)

MSHT is one of the 21 Houses of Human Sciences in France. These structures were created in the 60s to foster inter-disciplinary co-operations within the fields of social and human sciences. The MSHT was created in 1969, and involves both CNRS and the Université de Toulouse  (Cluster of Research and Higher Education of the Midi-Pyrenees region).

The MSHT strategy is organized around three axes:

  • Priority research themes, which are chosen in strong cooperation with the research teams and the three involved universities.
  • The establishment of platforms strengthening the synergies between the different research areas, and which also play a role in the interface with the local economic environment.
  • The organisation of interdisciplinary seminars which offer the opportunity to weave links between and across the different knowledge and research areas.
The MSHT is also able to launch calls for proposals (aiming at the development of interdisciplinary projects) available on their website.
