Facing Change : First Impressions of Toulouse

For those who pass it without entering, the city is one thing: it is another for those who are trapped by it and never leave. There is the city where you arrive for the first time; and there is another city which you leave never to return…

A series of workshops dedicated to the theme of first encounters; students’ first impressions of Toulouse. The project will focus on making a short film documentary.

  • Friday 15th April: language workshops on theme of Invisible Cities
    2pm - 3.30pm: intermediate
    3.30pm - 5pm: advanced
     
  • Wednesday 4th May: presentation and organisation of film project
    12.30pm - 2pm: Muholland Drive by David Lynch (cinema)
    2pm - 3.30pm: intermediate
    3.30pm - 5pm: advanced
     
  • Friday 13th May: filming and interviews in and around university campus
    12.30pm - 2pm: Mulholland Drive
    2pm - 5pm: filming and interviews
     
  • Friday 20th May: viewing recorded material
    12.30pm - 2pm: Mulholland Drive
    2pm - 5pm: viewing recorded material
     
  • Friday 27th May: editing and the making of the film
    2pm - 5pm: Editing

Mark Brasington has planned the project around four afternoons. Students can attend a minimum of one workshop per week although more motivated students might contribute with more time – especially in the making of the film.

Students are also invited to participate in the viewing of the film Mulholland Drive between 12.30 and 14.00 during the first three weeks of May.

All the workshops will begin with a meeting at the CRL on the first floor of the BU.
