Latino Graff is a Toulouse-based association promoting Latin American urban art and muralism. In April 2021, a call for projects was launched to Colombian artists to collect posters on the theme of "La Lutte" (Lucha).

Through this collection of works, Latino Graff wishes to raise awareness among the French public about the problems of inequality, violence, corruption and impunity in Colombia.

Indeed, almost half of the population works illegally and, according to official figures, 42% of Colombians live in povertý most of them without social security coverage. This social situation, also characterised by almost financially inaccessible universities, growing inequality and ever-increasing corruption, especially with the pandemic crisis, has led to an increasingly strong protest from the population.
Since 28 April 2021, the Colombian people have seen their mostly peaceful demonstrations heavily repressed by military and police forces, sometimes supported by armed civilians firing on the crowds. These serious human rights violations (75 homicides, 1832 arbitrary detentions, 3486 cases of police violence, a thousand missing persons) were condemned by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) but the Colombian State refused the entry of an observation mission for over a month. The impunity of the military and police forces and the international silence on these events are overwhelming for the Colombian people.
Today, tensions have eased and calm is gradually returning to the cities. The protest movement is seeking to integrate the political system in order to participate in the legislative and presidential elections that will take place from April to June 2022.

Aware of the important role that art has played in the various struggles for human rights throughout history, Latino Graff has launched a call for projects to make the thousands of voices calling for justice in Colombia heard. The Cultural Space is exhibiting the 15 posters at our university.

From 2 November to 10 December, the poster Tejiendo resistencia by Tatiana Maldona Erazo is on display at the Si Gallery. A meeting with the Latino Graff team is organised on Tuesday 16 November from 4 to 6 pm in front of the work. More info here (French website).
From 10 to 19 November, fourteen posters are hanging in the hall of the Arsenal building.

Each artist has written a text about his work. Discover them on our French website.
