Coronavirus : safety instructions and imperative measures

from February 25, 2020 to March 25, 2020

Given the highly evolutionary nature of the COVID-19 epidemic, the recommendations of the Ministry of Health Solidarity (MSS) have been updated for people returning from the exposure zone, an area where community transmission of the virus is described.

Given the highly evolutionary nature of the COVID-19 epidemic, the recommendations of the Ministry of Health Solidarity (MSS) have been updated for people returning from the exposure zone, an area where community transmission of the virus is described. Thus, the MSS issues recommendations for people returning from China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao), Singapore, South Korea, or the regions of Lombardy and Veneto in Italy.

Within 14 days of return, the following measures are recommended by the MSS:

  • Wear a surgical mask when you are in front of another person and when you have to go out;
  • Wash your hands regularly or use a hydro-alcoholic solution;
  • Workers/Students: as far as possible, favour teleworking and avoid close contacts (meetings, lifts, canteen...);
  • Monitor your temperature twice a day;
  • Watch for symptoms of respiratory infection (cough, difficulty breathing...);
  • Avoid any contact with fragile people (pregnant women, chronically ill, elderly people...);
  • Avoid frequenting places frequented by fragile persons (hospitals, maternity wards, old people's homes...);
  • Avoid all non-essential outings (large gatherings, restaurants, cinema...)
In case of fever or feeling of fever, cough, difficulty breathing
  • Contact quickly the SAMU centre 15 and report the trip ;Do not go directly to the doctor or to the hospital emergency room.
  • Avoid any contact with your entourage and keep your mask;
Postpone any travel to China that is not essential due to the containment measures and restrictions imposed by the local authorities.

In addition, the MEAE, in the travel advice page for Italy, mentions the restrictions imposed by the Italian authorities in 11 municipalities (Codogno, Casapusterlengo, Castiglione d'Adda, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Somaglia, San Fiorano, Terranova dei Passerini and Vo Euganeo).

Therefore, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation recommends :

  • Postpone any departure of students, researchers, lecturers and administrative staff to China, which is not essential.
  • Recommend that students, researchers, lecturers and staff on mobility in China consider temporarily interrupting their stay until local conditions improve.
  • Delay any departure to Northern Italy due to local restrictions (Lombardy and Veneto).
  • Reconsider the relevance of a trip to the exposure areas
  • Differ from 14 days, the incubation period of the virus, the reception of students, researchers, teacher-researchers and staff returning from the exposure areas (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, South Korea and the regions of Lombardy and Veneto in Italy) in collective events or situations
