Tiger Forum 2013: Jean-Jacques Laffont Prize awarded to Eric Maskin

The 2013 Jean-Jacques Laffont Prize has been awarded to the egregious American economist Eric Maskin who was the recipient of the Nobel Prize in 2007.

This distinction is a joint initiative of the City of Toulouse and of IDEI (Industrial Economics Institute) , the research centre of Toulouse School of Economics, It rewards a high-ranking economist " possessing the skills to address a large public of non specialists and decision-makers " as stated by the director of IDEI, Mr Hervé Ossard.

Before the award ceremony, Eric Maskin gave a topical lecture entitled: how should the President of France be elected?. By discussing the election mechanisms in a broad economic context, he has exemplified to the best what turning theory into the practice of economic science really means. The award ceremony was held last Thursday evening in the Hall of Illustrious Men at the City Hall of Toulouse in presence of the Mayor and of the Deputy Mayor in charge of innovation and scientific culture.
