Solidarity Ukraine

on the March 11, 2022

Facing the war that has been raging for several weeks in Ukraine, Toulouse Capitole University and its partners are joining forces to help the Ukrainians as best they can. Here is a summary of the aid that has been put in place to help those in difficulty.

Staff, teachers and students, if you too wish to help the ukrainian people and students, you can contribute to this solidarity movement.

The aids put in place at UT Capitole:

  • A crisis unit has been set up at the university to study, discuss and analyse the crisis situation in Ukraine and to propose appropriate aid measures.
  • The president of the university, Hugues Kenfack met with several of our Ukrainian students to listen to them, to learn about their needs and to assure them of our support.
  • On the recommendation of the social workers, students can also benefit baskets from  UT1 ESOPE grocery shop, which opened on campus on February 17.
  • The return of our students who were in Russia was accompanied by the French Embassy and monitored by the university, which provided them with the necessary financial aid through the crisis unit.
  • The student association AGEMP joined the Free Ukraine Collective in Toulouse for various solidarity actions (collections, demonstrations, welcoming students). They display their support for the Ukrainian people on social networks.
  • UT Capitole strongly condemns any disinformation directed at Russian students registered in France.

Aid from the Occitanie Region:

  • The Occitanie Region wishes to respond to two emergencies: the collection of donations for the Ukrainians and the reception of refugees.
  • The 18 Houses of the Region will be mobilized, as well as the Hotels of the Region, to collect these donations.
  • For the reception of refugees, the Region will support communities, universities and associations thanks to the regional fund of one million euros dedicated.
  • A specific call number for this solidarity operation has been set up 0800 70 39 00 (free call).
  • A support address contact@solidariteoccitanieukraine.fr has also been set up by the Occitanie region to collect donations.
  • A FAQ is available
  • Consult all the information on the website of the Occitanie Region.

Aid from the Toulouse City Hall and Toulouse Métropole:

  • A scheme to host Ukrainian families has been set up in Toulouse. Volunteers can apply via this form.
  • Also, the City Council and the Metropolis invite citizens to send their financial donations to associations that have local branches or partners in the area (complete list on the City Council website). It is strongly recommended that donations be made to the Red Cross and to recognised international associations rather than to Ukrainian associations.
