"Scholars claim that living in cohousing or communities cultivates social capital and empowerment among residents (Saegert and Winkel, 1996), two assets acknowledged to have the potential to promote better later life (Labit, 2015; Arrigoitia et al, 2018). Many are drawn to cohousing because of its values of solidarity and mutual aid, values which make sense especially for an ageing population (Labit, 2015).
