Online Exchange Initiative (OEI) - ENGAGE.EU - Incoming students

Students from ENGAGE.EU partner universities can participate in an online exchange at Toulouse 1 Capitole University in the ENGAGE.eu alliance in Fall 2021.


Together with its partners in the ENGAGE.EU alliance (LUISS University, NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Tilburg University, University of Mannheim, University of National and World Economy, WU Vienna), Université Toulouse 1 Capitole launched an online exchange initiative. Students from above mentioned partner universities can apply for a range of online courses offered by UT1. As a participant, you will be part of a virtual and international classroom. Benefit from international learning opportunities and exchange ideas with students from different countries!

The online course offer is available to students studying at the following partner universities:

Application period - Until when can I apply

The application period will close on 16 July 2021. All applicants will be informed about the outcome of their application by 22 July 2021 at the latest. Admitted students will then be contacted by email.

How can I apply?

Please fill in the application form. The selection will be based on an evaluation of your overall academic performance (transcript of records) and the statement of motivation. You will find the course catalog below.

I got admitted at Toulouse 1 Capitole University but now I realize that I can not participate in the course anymore, what should I do?

Please write an e-mail to agnes.tersou@ut-capitole.fr and indicate which course you would like to de-register from. In case you de-register from all courses you were admitted for, please send a written request for disenrollment to the above mentioned e-mail address.

Description
: This 100% online course helps students deepening their mastery of strategic concepts and tools discovered during undergraduate and beginning of master years. It particularly helps students developing their abilities to assess systematically possible growth opportunities for the company and to propose viable growth options for the future.
Course objectives: At the end of this course, students should be able to
• identify growth opportunities and related growth strategies to follow;
• be aware of advantages and pitfalls of each growth option and related strategy implemented;
• anticipate growth-related problems. Students will also develop their business developer’s skills. They will be able to:
• present the results of their analyses in a synthetic way;

Business intelligence

Description: The objectives of this course are to understand the concepts related to Business Intelligence as well as
to design and implement the components of a decision support system. First, we study the components
and the role of decision support systems. Second, we learn how to design and deploy a data
warehouse. Third, we address the multidimensional modeling of data marts. Finally, we discuss some
state-of-the-art solutions dedicated to data visualization.

Description: In this course, we present these two types of analysis as well as related topics computer scientists should consider when analysing data: data representation, data visualization and result interpretation. The main supervised and non-supervised machine learning methods are introduced as well as the contexts of applications. This course does not aim at going deep in the mathematical formulation of the methods.

Project management and agility

Description: The objective of this course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of project management, with particular attention to information system projects.
This course is structured in two parts.
A first part dedicated to traditional Project Management Methods, because it is important to understand the basics of traditional Project Management in order to appreciate the benefits of adopting innovative techniques. Traditional Project Management methods are based on deterministic approaches that use detailed plans, Gantt charts, work schedules….
A second part dedicated to Agile methods. Such methods promote a value-driven
approach that allows the Project Manager to deliver high-priority, high-quality work. It is based on iterative and incremental development in which requirements and solutions
evolve through collaboration.

Advanced programming in Java

Description: The goal of this course is to go further in object programming and be able to create an application which implements advanced notions. At the end of the class, students should be able to understand and implement classical data structures and be familiar with the notions of abstract classes, lambda expressions, design patterns and event-driven programming. Students will learn how to implement all these concepts in Java and they will also learn some specific aspects of the Java language for creating graphical interfaces and querying databases.

Law - Master's level

Private international law - Fundamental rules and principles

Description: The main principles ruling the choice of the municipal law and the judge will be presented and discussed. Open to specialized students but also to non-lawyers whishing to understand the way in which municipal legal orders interact, and what States’ and stakeholder strategies may be in that regard.

Labour international law

Description: The purpose of this course is to present the evolution of Labour Law in various European countries, through the analysis of debated topics in Europe : the scope of the employment protective legislation confronted to new patterns of work (Uber & platform workers), workplace Discrimination Law, the protection against unfair dismissal, redundancy, Free movement of workers, collective bargaining, employment litigation, precarious work, etc.
Requirements : the course does not require to have previous knowledge of Employment Law (though appreciated), but it is a Master Course in Law, and therefore it requires a basic knowledge of a legal system and of the legal terminology and the understanding of the European Institutions and Legal system.

Description: What exactly are the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, the European Court of Justice? To what extend does EU law influence our municipal legal systems?

Fundamentals of public international law

Description: The main keys to understand the dynamics of the law of international relations between States will be provided to students (for instance: sources of public international law, international law and politics). Theoretical readings and are required before every class.
