Toulouse School of Economics building selected for "Cemex Building Award"

on the June 2, 2021

The TSE building is selected to represent France in the future international competition "CEMEX Building Award 2021".

The CEMEX Building Award is an initiative created and organized by CEMEX for the purpose of distinguishing the best in Architecture and Construction around the world.

Each year since 1991, CEMEX has distinguished the best construction projects and all those persons who have made these possible, as architects, engineers, investors, and constructors.

This year, it is the Toulouse School of Economics building that will represent France in the "Building" category.

Already honoured on several occasions, notably through its creators Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara (Grafton Architect) who received the 2020 Pritzker Prize, the TSE building continues to receive awards. Last November, the jury of the Equerre d'argent, the highest French distinction in architecture, awarded it its 2020 prize. This is a first for a Toulouse building.

Dedicated to the Toulouse School of Economics, this building is entirely devoted to research with the specificity, brought by the IAST, of developing economics for the common good, open and multidisciplinary.

This new building is dedicated to the TSE research community and to the IAST activities, which address the development of an open and multidisciplinary economy for the common good.

Its construction is a first for two reasons :
  • For the first time ever in France, a university is the contracting authority for the construction of a building,
  • For the first time ever, a university building has been designed in close collaboration with researchers.

Contracting authority :
Université Toulouse Capitole.
Architect : Grafton Architects/Vigneu & Zilio Architectes.
