Tim CLUTTON-BROCK, an internationally renowned zoologist from Cambridge University will talk on “The Origins of Society”.
Abstract : Although ecologists have traditionally treated animal populations as if they consisted of random collections of individuals, many vertebrates live in highly structured societies whose characteristics have profound effects on ecological and evolutionary processes. This lecture describes the diversity of mammalian societies; their effects on the characteristics of females and males; and the evolution of cooperation in humans and other animals.
