UT1 students win a prize at the Luiss Xlab in Rome!

Within the framework of ENGAGE.EU, three students from Toulouse Capitole University: Bismella and Youssef from the Master 1 MIAGE 2IS and Sophia from the Master 1 AES, participated in the Xlab of the Luiss in Rome. Two of them came back with the first prize of this interdisciplinary experience.
But what is an Xlab ?
For 8 weeks, students from LUISS in Rome, joined by students from the universities of Tilburg, Mannheim and Toulouse, worked on 6 challenges proposed by Italian companies on societal issues in the fields of transport, energy, industry, health, urbanism and the future of the Earth.
Supervised by coaches with creativity methods, the students met every Thursday in sessions organised by the Xlab and worked outside of these sessions, after dividing up the tasks.
The UT1 students rose to the challenge. They were able to travel to Rome to take part in the final presentation of the results on 5 May in Rome. On this occasion, a jury of professionals rewarded the "Future of the Earth" project team in which Bissmella and Sophia were involved. Together with the project leader, the team chose to focus on the vital theme of water, and more specifically rivers, and proposed the creation of a "Shades of Blue" certification that companies will obtain based on their good environmental practices.
Youssef was involved in the project team on improving the well-being of individuals and their integration into communities/associations... The creation of a platform was proposed.

Engage EU: Sophia, how does it feel to come back with the first prize?
I feel proud! All the projects were difficult to tackle. And when you come back with something that works, you're happy that it's a success. We thought that this certification would be a plus for companies to improve their image and create a new network.
ENGAGE.EU: Bissmella, how did the team come up with the idea of this label?
We had a lot of steps and backtracking. At one point we were lost, and we came back to this idea that we could promote to companies knowing that no label on river water exists.
ENGAGE.EU: Youssef, what do you remember about this experience?
This experience had an impact on the way of working in teams: sharing knowledge between students, and on a more concrete project. Moreover, I was able to bring an added value on the technical part (IT) that no student at Luiss had.
