The Constitution of the Weimar Republic was enacted on 11 August 1919. Many events have already taken place in Germany to commemorate this important constitutional text.
This event seeks to expand discussions on the topic in France, through talks given by French specialists and the work of Christoph Gusy, a public law professor at the University of Bielefeld, which has been published as part of the centenary commemorations.
The event’s format is designed to enable open reflection, both globally and specifically, on the historical and current significance of the Weimar Republic’s constitution, with references to constitutional studies, legal theory and institutions along with considering the reception of the Weimar Republic’s foundational text beyond Germany’s borders.
