on the November 12, 2024
The traditional Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities was published on Monday 11 November 2024. In the ‘Economics’ category, Toulouse Capitole University and its Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) component are ranked 16th in the world, up 3 places on last year.
This new international recognition testifies to the excellence of the research and training carried out by the experimental public institution Toulouse Capitole University. It confirms the transformation undertaken by the university and TSE to attract the best students and researchers, both French and international, to Toulouse. As a reminder, on 1 January 2023, the Université Toulouse Capitole became an experimental public establishment (EPE). At the same time, TSE has become a Grand Établissement (GE).
This is the result of a policy of excellence that has been taken on board, shared and spread throughout the institution. It is also a further illustration of the determination and capacity of the EPE Toulouse Capitole University to become a Grand Établissement.
Hugues Kenfack, University President
For nearly 15 years, Toulouse Capitole University has regularly ranked among the top universities in the Shanghai Economics Ranking. This recognition is based on the academic and scientific excellence of its School of Economics, Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), supported by the Jean-Jacques Laffont Foundation, and is the result of the intensive research activities carried out in our laboratories, which benefit from a permanent policy of incentives and promotion.

Despite fierce international competition in economics, TSE came 16th. This is a real tour de force achieved thanks to a community united around the values of academic excellence.
