The ‘After Your Thesis, What Next? event, organised online on 9 and 10 October by Toulouse Capitole University, brought together PhDs and early-stage researchers and included practical workshops on career planning, advice on the academic job market in Europe, and information on Erasmus+ mobility. This initiative enabled participants to explore a range of career prospects with experts and mentors from the university and other sectors.

After your thesis, what next? Launch of ENGAGE.EU online workshops for PhD students and early-stage researchers.

Since the second funding period, each autumn an online workshop will be organised on a theme meeting a specific need of doctoral students and researchers at the start of their career (i.e. up to 4 years after obtaining their doctorate).

Organised by UT Capitole, the first edition of these workshops took place on 9 and 10 October and focused on professional orientation after the thesis. The following topics were discussed: professional integration into the non-academic world, integration into the academic world in Europe (with a look at the specific features of each of our partner universities), and Erasmus+ opportunities for teaching in Europe at another university.

The event attracted 150 registered students, including around a hundred active participants during the online sessions, confirming the need for researchers at the start of their careers to be better supported in this area.
