The Eurobiomed Competitiveness Cluster

Founded in 2009 by all stakeholders in the healthcare sector across the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie regions, Eurobiomed is the competitiveness cluster in the south of France dedicated to healthtech.

It brings together an ecosystem of over 400 industry players, including large corporations, SMEs and start-ups, as well as research laboratories and universities, all working together to develop and market innovative products and services in order to generate growth and jobs in high-potential markets.

UT Capitole member of Eurobiomed

Toulouse Capitole University is a member of the Eurobiomed cluster. This collaboration enables our academic staff to apply their research in a practical context.

New digital medical devices, the creation of digital patient cohorts, ethics and the use of personalised medicine… the topics addressed by Eurobiomed and its member companies are numerous and varied. Economic research also plays a key role, covering fundamental issues such as the pricing of medical devices.

What are the key issue?

By working with the Eurobiomed cluster, UT Capitole is strengthening its partnerships with local healthcare companies. Lecturers and researchers are able to put their research into practice, whether in the short, medium or long term. Discussions between industry representatives and researchers provide a better understanding of the respective constraints faced by both sectors. “The cross-fertilisation between these two worlds is extremely valuable in terms of fostering an open-minded approach,” says Émilie Royère, Managing Director of Eurobiomed.

Another benefit of this collaboration is the support offered by the competitiveness cluster in setting up projects. Indeed, the Eurobiomed team assists academic researchers with their applications for calls for proposals and their search for funding: structuring work schedules, meeting deadlines, organising meetings with industry partners, and so on. Many calls for proposals are also listed on the Eurobiomed website.

It is often felt that approaching a support organisation such as a competitiveness cluster will only add to the complexity. However, this partnership can, on the contrary, be beneficial and lend weight to the application. Furthermore, funding opportunities are often more attractive when projects are developed through public-private partnerships.
