The Master 2 in Transport and Aviation Law of the Toulouse School of Law shines at the ICAO Simulation 2025 in Montreal!

from May 20, 2025 to May 23, 2025

In Montreal, students from the Master 2 in Transport and Aviation Law had the opportunity to distinguish themselves brilliantly during the simulation at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Accompanied by Stéphane Mouton, professor of public law at the Toulouse Law School, they demonstrated a high level of expertise by winning the prize for the best intention paper in the Environmental Protection Committee.

From 20 to 23 May, eight students from the Master 2 in Transport and Aviation Law took part in a simulation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), held at its headquarters in Montreal. These four intense days highlighted their capacity for expertise, their strategic sense, their spirit of compromise and their perfect understanding of the challenges of international air law.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is an international organisation, under the aegis of the United Nations (UN), which is responsible for implementing the Montreal Convention and the various texts relating to international aviation regulations. Each year the ICAO organises a competition between American, Canadian and European universities. Students from each country are invited to propose legal innovations in these different fields. For four days, they exchange ideas, discuss and defend their positions in various expert committees in order to advance air law.

A prestigious award for our delegation

For their first participation, the students representing the Master 2 in Transport and Aeronautics Law, accompanied by Stéphane Mouton, professor of public law at the Toulouse School of Law, won the prize for the best intention paper in the Environmental Protection Committee, which rewards the best expertise proposed in this field during the simulation. This expert opinion, submitted by two of our students, Maïlys Zidelmal and Chloé Laujin-Sébire, is the fruit of several months' collective work.

Chloé Laujin-Sébire shone particularly brightly in presenting our expertise and has been justly rewarded with this prize, which also opens up exceptional prospects for our students. Chloé Laujin-Sébire has been invited to take part in a professional event organised by the ICAO, bringing together major players in the sector (Airbus, Boeing, NASA, etc.), with funding provided by the organisation.

In addition, Alexandre Humbert, the delegation's ambassador, brilliantly showcased the legal skills acquired at the Toulouse School of Law, enabling the Master 2 in Transport and Aviation Law to stand out during the simulation at the ICAO.

Feedback from ICAO experts, lecturers from the other participating universities and the organisers was unanimous: the level of expertise demonstrated by our students impressed all the participants.

The event also gave our students a unique experience of multilateral negotiation, diplomatic crisis management and intercultural collaboration, all essential skills for their future careers.

This award underlines the quality of teaching at the Toulouse School of Law and highlights the exceptional achievements of the students who took part in this simulation. A huge congratulations for this remarkable performance and for the international exposure it gives to the Toulouse School of Law and the Toulouse Capitole University.
