QS Rankings 2026 : UT Capitole excels in 7 disciplines

With its seven members, Toulouse Capitole University has further cemented its international reputation by being ranked in the 1001–1200 bracket of the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds Rankings by Subject 2026, published on Wednesday 25 March. The institution is thus continuing its mission centred on the three pillars of “internationality, interdisciplinarity and societal impact” and stands out for its academic and scientific excellence.
By retaining its position in the 2026 QS World University Rankings (ranked 1001–1200), Toulouse Capitole University has confirmed its place among the best public universities in France and worldwide. It excels in seven disciplines: “Economics and Econometrics”, “Social Sciences and Management”, “Accounting and Finance”, “Law and Legal Studies”, “Mathematics”, “Business and Management Studies” and “Computer Science and Information Systems”.
UT Capitole excels particularly in economics and econometrics, a field in which it ranks 66th out of 700 institutions worldwide, marking a rise of five places compared with the previous year. This improvement reflects the university’s growing expertise in this field, and more specifically that of its constituent institution, Toulouse School of Economics (TSE).
In the field of social sciences and management, the university is ranked 297th, an improvement of 22 places compared with 2025. Its constituent institution, Sciences Po Toulouse, and its constituent department, the Faculty of Administration and Communication, play an active role in enhancing its reputation.
In addition to its inclusion in the QS Rankings, the University of Toulouse Capitole is also recognised in other major international rankings: it features in the Shanghai Ranking, where it was ranked 15th in the world in the field of economics in 2025, and in the Times Higher Education Ranking, where it is ranked in the 501–600 bracket of the 2026 world rankings.
