International Students Registration fees - School of Law
Please find below the specific circumstances and exemption criteria that exempt you from paying the differential fees when you enrol or re-enrol at the Toulouse Law School.
Non-EU students who are not subject to the differential fees or who are exempted by the institution under the conditions set out below are required to pay the enrolment fees applicable to national students.
The exemption granted is valid for the entire duration of the course and is limited to:

The exemption granted is valid for the entire duration of the course and is limited to:
- four years for the first cycle (Bachelor’s degree)
- three years for the second cycle (Master’s degree)
By way of derogation, students who have been granted an extension to the duration of their studies, by agreement with the institution, are then exempt from differential fees for the entire duration of their educational contract (e.g. elite athletes).
Students who are not required to pay according to the legal framework
You will not be required to pay the differential fees:
depending on your nationality
- if you are a national of one of the Member States of the European Union, of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or of the Swiss Confederation;
- if you are a national or resident of Quebec;
- if you are a national of a country that has concluded an international agreement applicable to the French Republic providing for the payment of registration fees identical to those applicable to French nationals or exempting nationals of that country from the obligation to hold a residence permit in France.
depending on your status
- if you hold a residence permit bearing the words ‘Residence card for a family member of a citizen of the European Union/EEA/Switzerland’;
- if you have been granted refugee status or subsidiary protection, or if you are a person whose father, mother or legal guardian has been granted such status or protection;
- if you hold a residence card issued under the conditions set out in Chapter IV of Title I of Book III of the Code on the Entry and Residence of Foreigners and the Right of Asylum, or if you hold a document of the same nature issued under an international agreement applicable to the French Republic, or if you are a minor under the age of ten and a direct descendant or dependant of the holder of one of these cards.
- if you have been resident for tax purposes in France, or part of a tax household resident in France, for at least two years as of 1 January preceding the start of the academic year for which enrolment is sought.
depending on the course you will be taking
- if you are a student enrolled on a PhD programme, or preparing for the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR);
- if you are enrolled in a preparatory class for the grandes écoles at a state secondary school and are enrolling at a public institution of a scientific, cultural or vocational nature.
depending on your situation in 2018/2019
- if you were enrolled in 2018–2019 or earlier at a university, a school under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) or a Centre for French as a Foreign Language (FLE).
