IUF 2026: Four lecturers and researchers from UT Capitole named IUF laureates

on the May 22, 2026

Toulouse Capitole University is delighted to announce that four of its academic staff members—Catherine Casamatta, Florent Garnier, David Martimort and Mathias Reynaert—have been named among the recipients of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) awards for 2026.

By order of the Minister for Higher Education, Research and Space dated 23 April 2026, four lecturers and researchers from Toulouse Capitole University have been appointed as members of the Institut Universitaire de France for a five-year term commencing on 1 October 2026. This prestigious distinction recognises the excellence of their research and their commitment to higher education.

Lecturers and researchers appointed to the Institut universitaire de France are placed on secondment. They continue to carry out their duties at their home institution and are relieved of two-thirds of their teaching duties.

The mission of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) is to promote the development of high-level research in universities and to strengthen interdisciplinarity, by pursuing three objectives:
  • To encourage institutions and academic staff to strive for excellence in research, with the positive impact this is expected to have on teaching, the training of early-career researchers and, more generally, the dissemination of knowledge,
  • To contribute to increasing the number of women in the research sector,
