Faculty of Information Technology
Presentation
The mission of the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) is to offer theoretical and practical computer training and knowledge to prepare students in integrating a business world increasingly permeated with information technologies and communication.
To accomplish this mission, the Faculty of Information Technology has an outstanding scientific and technical potential in computer science applied to economics, management and law.
Since its creation in 1972, the Faculty of Information Technology has developed its degree programs according to the following objectives:
All these training programs focus on information systems, on their implementation and on information and communication technologies. For these programs, the Faculty uses the benefit of research carried out by its members within one of the largest computer science laboratory of France (the IRIT research institute) where UT Capitole is one of the supervisory authorities. This synergy guarantees students a very high level of computer science teaching.
To accomplish this mission, the Faculty of Information Technology has an outstanding scientific and technical potential in computer science applied to economics, management and law.
Since its creation in 1972, the Faculty of Information Technology has developed its degree programs according to the following objectives:
- Provide students, whatever area of specialization (law, economics, management or administration), with a highly specialized training in computer science through a University Diploma,
- Offer to students of the university Toulouse Capitole (UT Capitole) the possibility to have a specialization in information systems and technologies either by accessing to a professional bachelor's degree (professional licence) after 2 years of study at the university, or by accessing a master's degree after a bachelor's degree.
Degree programs
The Faculty of Information Technology proposes a number of master programs. All of them are MIAGE programs, the reference French label for education in IT. One of these masters is entirely taught in English (Master in Innovative Information Systems - 2IS). For more information, see miage.ut-capitole.fr.
A pre-master program is dedicated to Chinese students: APC-MIAGE IM.
Bachelor programs and professional Bachelor degrees are also proposed.
International
Research
Research carried out by the members of the Faculty of Information Technology mainly concern the Computer Science research institute of Toulouse (IRIT - Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse). Six of the twenty IRIT research teams are represented at the UT Capitole.
Research activities are described on the Web pages of the research institute dedicated to UT Capitole (IRIT-UT Capitole). Seminars are regularly organised around the research activities.
We also welcome invited professors and researchers throughout the year.
